The Atlanta Braves will be relocating their Spring Training following the Spring 2018 season. The Braves have held Spring Training at Walt Disney World for twenty years. They are building a new facility in North Port, Florida.

Special Events for Epcot's 35th Birthday on October 1

October 1, 2017 marks the 35th birthday of Epcot. If you are planning to be at Epcot that day, keep an eye out for some special celebrations! The day starts at 10:00 am with an anniversary celebration at the Fountain View Stage, and ends with a special edition of Illuminations at 9:00 pm. There will also be a commemorative park map, exclusive merchandise, and more!

Mobile Ordering Expands to New Locations

Guests can now pre-order their meals at select counter service locations throughout Walt Disney World - including Dole Whips! Mobile ordering in the My Disney Experience app has been expanded to the Aloha Isle in the Magic Kingdom. Mobile ordering is currently available at the following locations:
Magic Kingdom - Aloha Isle, Columbia Harbour House, Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, The Lunching Pad, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, Pinocchio Village Haus
Epcot - Electric Umbrella, Liberty Inn
Hollywood Studios - ABC Commissary, Backlot Express, PizzeRizzo
Animal Kingdom - Flame Tree Barbecue, Harambe Market, Pizzafari, Restaurantosaurus, Satu'li Canteen

Walt Disney World Reopens Following Hurricane Irma

Following Hurricane Irma last week, all four Walt Disney World theme parks, and most Resorts have re-opened and are operational. As of this writing on September 19, 2017, Disney's Fort Wilderness remains closed and the Hoop Dee Doo Revue is not being held. All Hoop Dee Doo reservations will be cancelled and refunded automatically. Rumor has it that Fort Wilderness will re-open this week. A small number of attractions that had extensive tree damage remain closed while clean-up and repairs are made. (The Jungle Cruise in the Magic Kingdom is still closed as of this writing.)

The Epcot International Festival of Holidays Debuts in 2017

Previously known as 'Holidays Around the World,' the new Epcot International Festival of Holidays will be held November 19 - December 30, 2017. Holiday Kitchens (aka Food Booths) will surround the World Showcase Lagoon. Live entertainment, holiday storytellers, and more will take place throughout the day.

'Disney After Hours'Event Returns to Magic Kingdom in 2018

The popular 'Disney After Hours' event is returning to the Magic Kingdom in 2018. The event features a small number of tickets offered for access to the Magic Kingdom for a few hours, after the park closes to the general public. (Have you always wanted that photo of you alone on in front of the Castle? This is where you get it.) Disney After Hours event nights are currently set for January 19, 26, and 30, February 8 and 15, March 1 and 8. The price is $126.74 per person (including tax) when purchased in advance, and also includes select snacks and bottled water.

Disney's Hollywood Studios adds 'Sunset Seasons Greetings' to Holiday Line-Up

This holiday season, guests visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios will enjoy a new projection show on Sunset Boulevard. From November 9 - December 31, 2017, every evening "Sunset Seasons Greetings" will transform the billboards and even the Hollywood Tower Hotel bringing favorite Disney characters to life as they share their holiday stories. Disney Legend Francis Xavier 'X' Atencio Passed Away at Age 98

Disney Legend Xavier X Atencio, a former Imagineer and Disney animator, passed away on September 10 at the age of 98. X began his career as an Animator on Pinocchio, and worked on such classics as 'Mary Poppins' and 'Fantasia'. X later moved to WED Enterprises (now known as Disney Imagineering) and was responsible for helping bring to life a number of beloved Disney Parks attractions including Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion.

Hurricane Irma Updates from Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World shut down for two days on Sunday and Monday during Hurricane Irma. The theme parks resumed operations at 9:00 am on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. All resorts with the exception of Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground and Disney's Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas , will resume normal operations on Tuesday as well. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground will remain closed while damage assessments are completed. To allow Disney’s Fort Wilderness to prepare the property after Hurricane Irma, all shows at The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ will be cancelled Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017. Any existing reservations will be automatically cancelled and refunded. Disney's Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas are scheduled to re-open on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017. Disney's Vero Beach and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resorts will remain closed at this time.
