These tips and memories show how Disneyland can be your playground! “On your downtime at Disneyland, there are many things that just put a smile on your face yet are overlooked. My favorites are the mechanical fortune tellers. Whether you visit Esmeralda on Main Street, the pirate in New Orleans Square after exiting the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, or Shrunken Ned and Aladdin's Lamp in the store across the Jungle Cruise ride, your experience will be more magical with these attractions.” — Contributed by Kevin N., a winner in our Reader Tip Contest “Don't forget to plan for some down time on your vacation. While Disneyland is significantly smaller than Walt Disney World, there is still an awful lot of walking involved! We stayed at a fabulous hotel just over the road from the parks, but that driveway to the parks and Downtown is still a very long walk, particularly at the end of the day! We were in California for a week and had one day off planned in the middle of the vacation, but we spent it at Downtown Disney, so were totally exhausted at the end of the week. Note to self : Next time, have a day by the pool or even in bed!” — Contributed by Carolyn Brooke-Millward, a winner in our Reader Tip Contest “If you are celebrating a birthday while staying at an onsite Disneyland hotel (the ones owned and operated by Disney), you can ask the front desk for an autographed picture of a princess or character. They will provide one free of charge—even if it is not a child. My daughter is 22 and loves Belle. The front desk was able to give me a picture of her. I placed it on her pillow and when we came back from a day in the park, it was waiting for her. ” — Contributed by Janet Sherby, a winner in our Reader Tip Contest Magical Memory “My cousin and I recently took a 'girl trip' to Disneyland and decided to get matching ear hats. I was allowed to pick out the hats and we also decided to get our names put on them in matching fonts and colors. This was something my daughter and I had done on many trips to Disney World, so I thought it would be great to do this with my cousin. Since we paid for the deluxe monogramming, my cousin Bianca got the brilliant idea to get the year on them as well. I wish I had done that with all my ear hats, but I will be doing it from now on. I have quite an ear hat collection and usually pick up a pair (or two) on my trips. Since I am planning to go to Disney World with my family this year I plan on continuing this new tradition. My cousin and I had so much fun we are planning on making this an every other year trip with our next trip October 2016 to Disneyland.” ...as told by Disney vacationer Shelly |
