Get the daylights scared out of you on this recently built, state-of-the-art indoor roller coaster. Re-creating an Egyptian tomb, this twisted steel coaster features sophisticated Audio-Animatronics, holographics, fire, water, and a complex ride system that moves you forward, backward, and upward. Add to this an immersive story, excellent special effects, and a surprise ending, and you’ve got a real winner with the thrill-seeking set (that’s not us, but maybe it’s you). Each “mine car” has four rows of four passengers each. 48 "/122 cm. height restriction. Health and motion sickness warning. Guests must transfer from wheelchair/ECV. No packs or bags allowed on ride—lockers are nearby if needed. Height restriction: 48" / 122 cm

In our humble opinion, this is one of the best attractions in the park and our biggest reason to return. It’s in the spirit of Disneyland’s “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience” and “It’s Tough to be a Bug!” but (dare we say it) even a bit better. After entering via a covered, delightfully themed queue, you experience a 10-minute pre-show and then the 30-minute 3-D movie that artfully bridges the first Shrek movie with the second movie. Without giving too much away, Shrek and his new bride Fiona are pursued by the ghost of Farquaad on their way to their honeymoon—their companion Donkey shows up, of course. The effects are fun, the story is compelling, and the visuals are state-of-the-art. Try to sit in the middle of the theater to get the best 3-D effects. Assistive listening and closed captioning available. Guests may remain in wheelchair/ECV during attraction. |

This “Thrilltacular” ride takes you to Krustyland, the infamous theme park of The Simpsons animated TV show. Ride along with Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa in your own ride simulator as they go on a wild “upsy-downsy” roller coaster ride. The ride simulator and 3D IMAX video combine to create a fun, crazy coaster ride! Look for Doc Brown’s cameo during the ride, a homage to the fact that this ride replaced Back to the Future: The Ride in 2008. The pre-show is themed after the Krustyland midway and is quite entertaining. 40"/102 cm. height restriction. Health and motion sickness warning. Guests must transfer from wheelchair/ECV to ride. Closed captioning available upon request. Note that strobe lights and fog are present. Child switch is available. Height restriction: 40" / 102 cm

This is the attraction that spawned the theme park. While the tram tour isn’t quite as immersive or “behind-the-scenes” as in the old days, it’s still a fun and informative look at movie sets and props. The tour takes you through Universal’s backlots, where you’ll see sets such as the “Psycho” house, “Jaws,” “King Kong” (the original version), and “Jurassic Park.” Peeks at more recent movies are included, such as “The Mummy” and “War of the Worlds.” There’s also a bit of thrill to the tour, such as when your tram “collides” with a big-rig truck that explodes. The Studio Tour is currently "hosted" by Jimmy Fallon, and the tour includes the award-winning King Kong 360 3-D by Peter Jackson, and has an all-new Fast & Furious finale. For the best tour, go Monday–Friday during business hours—this is also your best chance of seeing a celebrity. Typically, the last tram leaves around 4:00 pm or 5:00 pm, so do this attraction early on. During peak season, special nighttime studio tours are offered. Closed captioning on request. Guests may remain in wheelchair during attraction. |
