![]() Enjoying the Evening Entertainment at Disney California AdventureEnjoying the Evening Entertainment at Disney California Adventure |
Beginning April 13, 2018, the popular "Paint the Night" parade debuts at Disney California Adventure for the first time! Nighttime is the right time to enjoy Disney California Adventure, with its signature show, World of Color. This stunning 22-minute show is the jewel in the crown of Disney's evening shows. Scenes from favorite Disney movies are projected on a watery screen comprising hundreds of water jets in Paradise Bay, accompanied by music, pyrotechnics, and other special effects. The best viewing is in the reserved area across Paradise Bay from Mickey's Fun Wheel. You have a choice of three ways to get into that area: FASTPASS, dining package, and dessert party. The FASTPASS kiosk for World of Color is located near Grizzly River Run first thing in the morning, and it issues FASTPASSes for the first show until they run out, then issues them for the second show (if there is one that evening). Now that Disney California Adventure has two highly sought-after FASTPASS attractions, if you choose this route, you may be giving up the opportunity to grab a FASTPASS for Radiator Springs Racers (both can run out quickly), so choose carefully. Note: World of Color FASTPASSes aren't connected to ride FASTPASSes, so speedy people at slow times of the year may be able to snag both. Dining packages can be at Ariel's Grotto, Carthay Circle Restaurant, or Wine Country Trattoria, and offer a three-course fixed-price menu. At this writing, the package at Ariel's Grotto (which is not a character meal) is dinner for $48.58/adults, $26.98/children under 10. You'll pay $34.55/adult and $22.66/child for lunch at Wine Country Trattoria, or $48.58/adult and $26.98/child for dinner. Carthay Circle's meals are the most expensive, at $44.29/adult and $23.76/child at lunch, or $66.96/adult and $27.01/child for dinner. Note: even in the reserved section, you will be standing throughout the show. Arrive early to claim your spot, as many other people will be in this section, too. Disney added a nightly World of Color Dessert party package in March 2016. For $79 (includes tax and gratuity), you can finally be seated while watching World of Color from a preferred viewing location in Paradise Pier. Enjoy a glass of sparking wine (or cider for under-21s), sweets, fruit, and artisanal cheeses. Reserve tickets through 714-781-DINE or Disneyland.com/dine. If you don't snag reserved seating, look for a spot where you have a clear view of both Mickey's Fun Wheel (preferably not at an angle) and the water jets in Paradise Bay. Most are roped off as reserved. Note: if the reserved section isn't full, cast members may open the back of that area to everyone else, so be ready. Now you also get a chance to control the lights on Mickey's Fun Wheel for 30 seconds! Connect to the PierGames wi-fi network on your mobile device 45 minutes before the show and compete with your neighbors! Everyone can shine along with World of Color, thanks to new accessories you can buy at multiple places around the two parks: Made With Magic Ear Hats (formerly known as Glow With the Show), Minnie Mouse Headbands, Mickey Mouse Gloves, and Sorcerer Mickey Wands - which affect the lights produced by the other new accessories. Each costs $25, including tax, and will also glow along with fireworks at Disneyland Park. Tip: Look for light-up beverages and treats, such as the Light Up Cotton Candy, available before and during World of Color. ![]() World of Color lights up the night at Disney's California Adventure. by GingerJ |
