Go for a gore-free ride through a world of 999 grinning ghosts. The spooky visual effects are astounding, but the scares are served up with a wink and lots of chuckles. Keep your eyes wide open (when you can). There’s so much delicious detail here that you’ll ride again and again. Look for the Hatbox Ghost, which was on the original ride very briefly and re-added in May 2015—his head disappears and reappears in his hatbox. Just be sure to leave room in your two-to-three-person “doom buggy” for hitchhiking ghosts! May be too intense for young kids. Recently renovated—Madame Leota’s ball now “floats.” Look at the upper windows of the mansion in the evenings—is that a ghost? Visit http://www.doombuggies.com for more details. Starting September 15, 2017 and going through January 7, 2018, this attraction becomes the delightful Haunted Mansion Holiday with characters from “The Nightmare Before Christmas”—many fans love it. Medium waits. Must transfer from wheelchair; handheld captioning. |

“Yo ho, yo ho!” Take a slow, dark cruise through a subterranean world of AudioAnimatronics pirates and the townsfolk they plunder. Your boat drifts past scene after riotous scene and fun special effects, including Audio-Animatronics of Captains Jack Sparrow and Barbossa. Lines can be long but generally move quickly. You aren’t likely to get wet, but it can happen, especially for larger groups seated in the boat's first row. Tip: the right-hand line is a bit faster. Walt Disney World fans should note that this is a better, longer version with two bigger drops. Must transfer from wheelchair; handheld captioning. 2018 Update: The scene that depicts women on the auction block is being replaced with a new scene that shows townspeople lined up to surrender their valuables when the ride closes for routine maintenance in 2018. The "redhead" will remain, but will become a rifle-slingin' pirate. Disneyland has also filed a permit to install 9,500 square feet of ceiling rock work inside Pirates of the Caribbean, so this scheduled refurbishment will include more than just changing out the Auction scene. Stay tuned for details! |
