Disneyland's classic Fantasy in the Sky fireworks returned in January 2017. Showing at 9:30 pm most weekend nights, except during Mickey's Halloween Party evenings, this spectacular features Disney's usual brilliant pyrotechnic displays, paired with some of our favorite Disney tunes, including "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." The five-minute show is sure to send you away with a lump in your throat and a familiar song in your heart. Stake out a spot where you can see the castle, mostly unobstructed, for the best views, and watch for Tinker Bell to fly over and start the show. The new Together Forever: A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular celebrates the everlasting friendships forged by beloved Pixar pals. The story unfolds using projections throughout the Disneyland park - Sleeping Beauty Castle, the water screens of the Rivers of America, the facade of "it's a small world" and the buildings of Main Street, U.S.A. The hub is the absolute best place to watch the fireworks, but will be insanely crowded. Other good vantage points include just in front of "it's a small world," Casey Jr. Circus Train, and New Orleans Square (although you might not see Tinker Bell). Tip: Many people settle down in the Esplanade between the two parks to view Disneyland's fireworks; the view is not quite as good, but you can avoid the worst of the post-parade crush on Main Street, U.S.A. this way. Tip #2: Shops on Main Street, U.S.A. stay open up to an hour after park close, so pop into one while the biggest part of the crowd heads out. While there you can do some souvenir shopping and not have to carry it around the park all day. Special fireworks shows are typically held on the 4th of July and during the holiday season, starting in November. Tip: The Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge (on the second floor of the Innoventions building in Tomorrowland)offers a party (with limited fireworks viewing) on select nights. The lounge opens nightly from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm but of course is more popular on nights when fireworks are being held. Lounge guests can come and go during the two hours or stay for the duration. $45 per person gets you a snack box and beverage of your choice. Reservations can be made online or by calling 714-781-DINE. Beginning April 13, 2018, the "Pixar Play Parade" parade makes its way through Disneyland Park for the first time. The parade begins as most Pixar films have, with an appearance by the iconic and adorable Pixar lamp. Other new parade elements feature characters from "UP" and "Inside Out." Three new parade floats debut with the parade's appearance at Disneyland—one features Luxo, Jr. chasing the iconic Pixar ball, another showcases characters from "Up," and the third includes the stars of "Inside Out." The parade route is shown on our park map—we recommend you find a good viewing spot along the route 20–30 minutes before the start of the parade. For show and parade times, check your park guidemap or check entertainment schedules at https://disneyland.disney.go.com/calendars/day/. |
Fantasmic! is a breathtaking mix of live action, music, and fireworks on the banks of the Rivers of America. It closed for refurbishment in January 2016, as part of the expansion to add a Star Wars Land, and will re-open on July 17, 2017 with updated technology, new scenes, and a FastPass option. This 22-minute show is typically performed nightly on weekends, and twice nightly during holidays and busy seasons (usually at 9:00 pm and 10:30 pm). Get a FASTPASS early in the morning, along Big Thunder Trail in Frontierland (tickets will be issued for the first show until they run out, and then for the second show, if any). Wheelchair and ECV accessible; audio description and handheld captioning are available. There are several different ways to see Fantasmic!—you can reserve a Fantasmic dinner package at the Blue Bayou or River Belle Terrace (call 714-781-3463 up to 60 days in advance), reserve a Fantasmic On the Go meal at Hungry Bear Restaurant, get a FASTPASS the day you wish to see the show, or wait for a standby spot. |
