Dapper Dans entertain

For most of us, Disneyland Park is virtually synonymous with “fun.” Live entertainment fills the streets with performers, bands, and, yes, fireworks. On selected afternoons, Mickey's Soundsational Parade fills the park with some of the most memorable music of Disney films, along with Mickey and his friends, and some royal Disney princesses.  Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, the popular Christmas Fantasy Parade marches along the parade route we’ve indicated on the map, with our favorite characters in holiday fineryand a special welcome from Anna, Elsa, and Olaf. We enjoy looking for street performersnotably the Dapper Dans barbershop quarteton Main Street, preferably while slurping down an ice cream float from Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parloryum!

In peak seasons, fireworks shows explode over and around Sleeping Beauty Castle, with special shows for Halloween, Christmas, and Independence Day (see page 96 for details and tips on these special evening performances). The classic "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks spectacular is showing a limited engagement on select weekend nights until November 2016, when the holiday season begins at the park. The Main Street Electrical Parade will return to light the nights in 2017.

Check out the live "Mickey and the Magical Map" show in the Fantasyland Theatre, featuring appearances and songs from favorite Disney princesses, along with Mickey, of course. Disney characters make appearances throughout the park, particularly in Fantasyland and Mickey’s Toontown. Many of the lands offer their own shows and entertainment, too. The chart below lists some of our favorite shows. Appearances and performances vary from day to day and season to season—check the times guide (available when you enter the park) or download the free Disneyland app (available from most app stores).
