Hollywood Area (continued) The George C. Page Museum of La Brea Discoveries can be found at the Rancho La Brea Tar Pits. View extinct Ice Age plants and animals, learn about the Los Angeles of 40,000 years ago, and view bones being cleaned and repaired. Could these be bones from a saber-toothed cat or mammoth? Price is $12/adult, $9/seniors (62+) and students with ID, $5/ages 5–12. Admission is free the first Tuesday of the month (except July and August). Parking is $12. The museum is located at 5801 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036. Phone: 323-934-7243. TCL Chinese Theatre with its hands and footprints of the stars is the most famous movie theater in the world (and right across the street from the El Capitan Theater). It opened in 1927 and has been the site of more gala movie premieres than any other theater. The exterior is an ornate Chinese pagoda and the interior has many exotic Asian motifs. Movie tickets prices are $21.75/adult and $20/senior (60+), and $19/ kids under 12. Be sure to explore the forecourt—a photo archive to all the blocks is available online. The TCL Chinese Theatre is located at 6925 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028. Phone: 323-461-3331. The Hollywood Walk of Fame runs for 18 blocks on both sides of Hollywood Blvd. from Gower St. to La Brea Ave. It also runs for three blocks along Vine St. between Sunset Blvd. and Yucca St. Bronze star plaques are embedded in pink and charcoal terrazzo, which you can see here in the photo of Mickey Mouse’s star. The 2300+ stars honor movie stars, TV stars, directors, singers, songwriters, TV and stage performers... and the occasional mouse! Can you find the stars for these Disney notables? Roy O.
