TIPS While you can reserve up to eleven months in advance at your home resort, you can only book seven months in advance at others. You can borrow points from the next year or save unused points until next year. You can buy more points from Disney at the going rate, or buy/sell points on the open market—we heartily recommend DVC By Resale (http://www.dvcbyresale.com, 800-844-4099). Don’t let unused points expire! If you can’t use all your points this year or prefer to use them later, you must contact DVC Member Services. Otherwise, those points expire at the end of your use year. If you can’t use points, bank them or try “renting out” your points (and non-DVC members may consider “renting” points to try out DVC). Use points to book at most Disney resorts in the world, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, luxury hotels, and adventure travel vacations, or barter points for “swaps” at non-Disney resorts. Note, however, that you must buy your points directly through Disney to get this perk (this opportunity is no longer available when purchased through resale). DVC members receive many discounts on items including annual passes, resort rooms, dining, guided tours, etc. Anyone may rent Disney Vacation Club points from a DVC member, and this can be a great money-saver. For details and folks willing to rent points, visit http://www.mouseowners.com. |
NOTES Vacancies at DVC resorts, called Disney’s Deluxe Villa Resorts, are made available to nonmembers—they are booked just like regular Disney resort reservations, and daily housekeeping is included. Thus, it may be very difficult to use your DVC points at a resort if you are booking close to your intended arrival date. Want to learn more?
