BY TRAIN

The train is a uniquely relaxing way to get to the Disneyland Resort and Southern California. Amtrak (call 800-USA-RAIL or visit their web site at https://www.amtrak.com/find-train-bus-stations-train-routes and search “Anaheim”) serves the Los Angeles area daily with passenger trains. Train station stops are plentiful, and there’s even an Anaheim train station (station code: ANA) next to the baseball stadium—while it’s just about a mile from the Disneyland Resort, you’ll need to call a cab to get anywhere. For travelers coming from or going to San Diego, the Pacific Surfliner makes 11 daily trips along the coast between San Diego and Los Angeles, stopping at the Anaheim station along the way. At the time of writing, one adult fare is $56 for an Anaheim–San Diego roundtrip, and discounts are available for additional passengers and kids ages 2 to 15. Anaheim station is also served by the regional MetroLink commuter rail system's Orange Line—trains run from LA's Union Station, opening many more mass transit options. Taxis are available at the Anaheim train station, and Hertz serves the station with a shuttle to its rental car office. The Anaheim station is located at 2150 E. BY BUS

Buses make good economic and environmental sense if you’re traveling a short distance. Greyhound (800-231-222, http://www.greyhound.com) serves Anaheim with direct buses from both Los Angeles and San Diego. The Greyhound Anaheim station is located at 2626 E Katella Ave (714-999-1256), which is about five miles from the Disneyland Resort (the closer station closed in 2014). Taxis are available from the bus station. Keep in mind that bus fares are lowest if you live within ten hours of your destination.

BY TOUR

A number of special tours go to the Disneyland Resort, which you may want to consider if you prefer to go with a large group or with like-minded folks. Adventures by Disney (see page 266)  has at least one Disneyland-based adventure. Check with the associations, organizations, and societies you belong to, or contact a travel agent.

BY BOAT
