Disney Parks Around the WorldDisney Parks Around the World |
Disneyland Resort (California) The original “Magic Kingdom,” near Los Angeles. Disneyland was the model for the Magic Kingdom in Florida and still keeps a step or two ahead of its offspring, since Disney’s Imagineers live close by. The official Disneyland hotels are right next door if you want to make a week out of it. Disneyland’s “other” park, Disney California Adventure, recently completed a huge expansion and re-design, to rave reviews. We cover the entire Disneyland Resort and other area attractions, such as Universal Studios, Knott’s Berry Farm, LEGOLAND, Hollywood, San Diego Zoo, and SeaWorld in our award-winning guidebook: PassPorter’s Disneyland Resort and Southern California Attractions. For more details, visit http://www.passporter.com/dl (see page 312). |
Disneyland Paris Resort (France) The first (and only) Disney resort in Europe, the park has a similar layout to Disneyland, with the major change being a substitution of Discoveryland for Tomorrowland. A second park, the Walt Disney Studios, features several popular attractions from Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida—and one of its original attractions (Lights, Motors, Action!) made its way to Florida, too. Visit http://www.disneylandparis.com. A third theme park, new eco-tourism resort hotel, and a housing development were once rumored, but no recent updates! We visited and stayed at the Disneyland Hotel—immediately adjacent to the park—and adored it. Look for PassPorter’s complete guidebook to Disneyland Paris (see page 314). |
Tokyo Disney Resort (Japan) Disney, Japan-style! Tokyo Disney Resort is located in Urayasu, just outside Tokyo. It is similar to Disneyland in California, incorporating the quintessential “American” things. When Jennifer visited, she found it squeaky clean and definitely Disney, with just a touch of Japanese peeking through. In 2001, the Tokyo DisneySea theme park opened immediately adjacent to Tokyo Disneyland. The aquatically themed park has seven lands and three resort hotels, including the new Tokyo Disneyland Hotel. Hong Kong Disneyland Opened in September 2005, this theme park overlooks the water of Penny’s Bay, Lantau. For details, visit http://www.hongkongdisneyland.com. |
Shanghai Disney Resort (China) Shanghai Disney Resort is in Pudong, Shanghai, China and opened on June 16, 2016. https://www.shanghaidisneyresort.com/en/ |
Hawaii Aulani, a Disney resort and spa, is located at the Ko Olina Resort and Marina west of Honolulu on the island of Oahu. The 21-acre facility offers a total of 800 hotel rooms and Disney Vacation Club villas, and opened on August 29, 2011. For more details, visit http://www.aulani.com. |
