We’re pretty infatuated with Disney, but there is life beyond Walt Disney World. At least that’s what we hear. We don’t venture far beyond the gates, preferring to spend more time immersed in Disney’s magic rather than battle traffic to get to another park. We do know that families hope to visit other theme parks during their visit to central Florida, so here is a list of Florida parks and attractions. For more information, check out PassPorter’s Orlando and Beyond: Everything but the Mouse guidebook by Cheryl Pendry (coming soon).
Note: Wet 'n' Wild closed in late 2016. A new water park, Universal's Volcano Bay, will open in May 2017. |
Beyond Orlando Like any other forward-thinking organization, The Walt Disney Company has expanded into other locales. Here are a few of them: Disney Cruise Line—“Take the magic of Disney and just add water!” The Disney Cruise Line set sail in 1998 with the same enthusiasm and energy you find at the Walt Disney World Resort. See page 106 - page 107, and pick up a copy of our popular guidebook, PassPorter’s Disney Cruise Line and Its Ports of Call (available as a LIVE! Guide—more details about the guidebook on page 311). Adventures by Disney—Adventures by Disney is making the world a Disney “park.” These deluxe escorted tours feature separate activities for adults and kids as well as all together, and visit a growing list of fabulous destinations in the US and abroad. http://www.adventuresbydisney.com Disney’s Vero Beach Resort—Vero Beach, Florida, is Disney’s first oceanside resort, a two-hour drive from Disney World. Call 561-234-2000 for more information, or visit https://verobeach.disney.go.com and click Resorts. Also learn about our in-depth e-book on the Disney Vacation Club at http://www.passporter.com/disney-vacation-club.asp. Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort—For southern grace and charm, experience the South Carolina Low Country lifestyle at Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort. Hilton Head is a golfer’s nirvana, boasting 12 nearby golf courses. The tennis and beaches are also big draws. It’s an ideal spot for small group retreats. For more information, call 843-341-4100.
