We’ve been lucky to get this stage-side table at the Hoop-Dee-Doo twice!
We’ve been lucky to get
this stage-side table at
the Hoop-Dee-Doo twice!
by Jennifer Marx

The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is a hilarious hoedown in an Old West-style dance hall at the Fort Wilderness Resort. The song-and-dance vaudeville act relies heavily on slapstick humor, hokey gags, corny puns, and lots of audience participation. The Wild West performers interact with the audience, and guests celebrating birthdays and anniversaries may be singled out for special attention.

The all-you-care-to-eat meal includes salad, barbecue ribs, fried chicken, corn, baked beans, and bread, with strawberry shortcake for dessert (kids can request mac and cheese and hot dogs instead). Complimentary beverages include soda, beer (Bud Light Draft), wine (house red, white, and rosé), and sangria. Cocktails and bottled beer extra.

Prices vary by seat category—cheapest seats are in category 3 (left or right side of the balcony) at $64/adults and $38/kids 3–9 (includes tax and tip). Category 2 seats are $67/adults and $39/kids 3–9 and are located along the sides and in the back of the main floor, as well as in the center of the balcony. Category 1 premium seats are $72/adults and $43/kids 3–9, located front and/or center on the main floor. Guests who need wheelchair access may only be seated in category 1. Disney Dining Plan credits are accepted here—two credits per person) for categories 2 and 3 only (all shows). Shows are at 4:00 pm, 6:15 pm, and 8:30 pm nightly (the 8:30 pm show is the easiest to get). A photo is taken before the show, and the photo is saved to your My Disney Experience account (the print photo packages are no longer offered table-side).

This show is very popular—reserve up to 180 days in advance at 407-WDW-DINE. The earlier you reserve, the better your table (within your category, of course). Full payment is required with reservation, refundable up to 48 hours in advance. Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is located in Pioneer Hall at the Fort Wilderness Resort. See travel directions below.

MICKEY'S BACKYARD BARBECUE

This old-fashioned, open-air barbecue features good ol’ Disney characters (Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, Chip, and Dale), live country music, carnival games, and line dancing. Vittles include chicken, hot dogs, ribs, salads, corn, cole slaw, beans, vegetables, rolls, and (of course!) watermelon—all served buffet-style at picnic tables under a huge pavilion. Includes all-you-can-drink soft drinks and beer. Shows are at 5:30 pm on Thursdays and Saturdays (January and February) and on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (March through December). Cost: $56.99/adults and $32.99/ kids 3–9 (prices include all taxes and gratuities). Call 407-WDW-DINE to inquire about availability and make reservations up to 180 days in advance. Full payment is required with your reservations, refundable up to 48 hours in advance, unless you’re on a dining plan.

GETTING TO THE FORT WILDERNESS DINNER SHOWS

To get to either Hoop-Dee-Doo or Backyard Barbecue, take the boat to Fort Wilderness from the Magic Kingdom, Contemporary, or Wilderness Lodge. Special buses run to and from some resorts, or take any Fort Wilderness-bound theme park bus. Driving (parking is free) is an option, too. The Hoop-Dee-Doo is in Pioneer Hall; Backyard Barbecue is next door to Pioneer Hall (around back). Allow 60 to 90 minutes for travel.
