Maya Grill D $56 |
|
Maya Grill has re-invented its menu yet again, returning to its Mexican roots. The restaurant is almost too elegant for a moderate resort, with grand, soaring architecture evoking a Mayan temple in warm yellows and accents of deep blue, shimmering gold, and rich woods. On the menu are green tortilla soup ($8.99), soft shell crabs ($12.99), shrimp tacos ($23.99), fajita skillet ($25.99), Yucatan pork ($23.99), red snapper Vera Cruz ($27.99), Pueba chicken ($21.99), and beef short ribs ($27.99). There are also some seasonal signature platters ($43–$58) with an array of tempting dishes. Kids’ menu available with quesadilla, chicken taco, and chicken tenders, ranging in price from $6.95 to $9.50. Note: Breakfast and lunch are no longer served. |

FORT WILDERNESS RESORT RESTAURANT |
One of the best dining deals on Disney property. While the vittles at Trail’s End won’t win awards for elegance, the food is plentiful, fresh, and tasty. Breakfast buffets ($17.99-$19.16/$9.99-$11.71 kids 3–9, tax. incl.) are hearty and heavy on home-style classics—eggs, French toast, Mickey waffles, hash, donuts, biscuits and gravy, cereals, yogurt, and fruit. Lunch has been replaced by a brunch on the weekends (open until 2:00 pm) for $23/$13 kids 3–9—brunch adds pasta, fried chicken, shrimp, chili, and more to the usual breakfast offerings. The dinner buffet is gentle on the wallet at $24.99-$26.62/$13.99-$15.90, and you still get a tasty soup, salad bar, peel-and-eat shrimp, chicken, ribs, carved meat, fish, good veggies, pizza, and a daily regional specialty. |

GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT RESTAURANTS |
Citricos D $86 |
|
A grand restaurant at the Grand Floridian, Cítricos blends the fresh flavors of Florida and the Mediterranean with simplicity and elegance. Warm colors, tall windows, and well-spaced tables make this a very comfortable place. The menu changes frequently. Key West shrimp ($17) and charcuterie plate ($16) are appealing appetizers. Wonderful braised beef short ribs are available ($47), along with yellowtail red snapper ($40), Kurobuta pork porterhouse ($44) and quinoa ratatouille ($30). Wine pairings are a fine idea, and the desserts ($8-$12) are gorgeous! Kids’ menu entrees $9–$18. Dress code is “business casual” (see page 228). |
