Who can resist the pleasures of San Francisco’s famed chocolatier? Sundaes, sundaes, and more sundaes ($11.95–$14.50) tempt dessert fans, or share an eight-scoop Earthquake ($39.95). If that’s too much, cones, shakes, malts, and frozen mochas beckon ($6.25–$8.95). Their whipped cream-topped hot chocolate ($4.75) is perfect on cool winter evenings. Sugar- and fat-free ice cream, too. |

Another Rainforest Cafe? Yes, and it’s very similar to the one at Disney’s Animal Kingdom (see page 245 for menu items and descriptions). Differences include a smoking volcano atop the restaurant and lunch and dinner only (no breakfast). This is a very popular stop for families. Show up, sign up, and be prepared to wait. Occasional live animal demonstrations help pass the time. If the wait is too long, you can sit at the Juice Bar and order from the regular menu, enjoy an appetizer and drink at the outdoor Lava Lounge, or browse the Rainforest gift shop. For discounts, see page 229. |

It’s fair to call T-REX a prehistoric-styled Rainforest Cafe (they’re both owned by Landry’s Restaurants). Roaring Audio-Animatronics dinos replace trumpeting elephants, and occasional meteor showers substitute for rainstorms. It’s a greater, more elaborately-executed spectacle than the nearby Rainforest Café (look for mineral and fossil specimens). The food is good, with the same approach to flavor (big), serving size (huge) and theming (over the top) as its sister-restaurant—a wide choice of mostly American plus popular international items, with fanciful names. Appetizers ($9.59-$18.99) include bruschetta, nachos, quesadillas, reliably good flatbread pizzas, and a gargantuan and satisfying sampler ($18.99, or $24.99 with ribs). After that, if you have room for entrees, is a long list of oversized entrée salads ($16.99-$18.99), burgers and sandwiches ($15.49-$18.49), pastas ($18.99- $20.99), and meat and fish specialties ($19.99-$33.99). Desserts are $7.99-$17.99. Kids menu is a la carte, with entrees $8.99, drinks $1.99, and desserts $2.99. |
