A circus has come to Walt Disney World, the likes of which you’ve probably never seen—magical, musical, a little mystical, and poetically graceful. Cirque du Soleil (“Circus of the Sun”) from Montreal, Canada, has redefined the concept of “circus” for millions around the world and has a company-in-residence at Disney Springs West Side.

SHOWS AT CIRQUE DU SOLEIL

Cirque du Soleil weaves its magic with acrobats, clowns, jugglers, dancers, aerialists, lights, original music, and fabulous costumes (and not one animal). The long-running show, La Nouba (from the French “to live it up”), weaves a continuous, dream-like thread. There’s a story here, but many guests hardly notice or care. This isn’t Big Top-style circus, either. It has as much in common with modern dance as it does with circus. It’s not for everyone (Dave likes it, Jennifer doesn’t), but it adds yet another dimension to the magic. Note that this 90-minute show has no intermission.

'La Nouba', Cirque du Soleil's resident show in Disney Springs, will have its last performance on December 31, 2017. A new, original show is being developed jointly between Cirque du Soleil and Disney, and will pay tribute to Disney's animation history. No opening date has been announced.
