Orlando recently hosted the "Star Wars Celebration" event and some very interesting details emerged from the panels. The Imagineers shared that new land at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland will feature a never-before-seen location—a remote frontier outpost on a planet called Batuu—that is "an extension of the Star Wars universe." The two new attractions—including one where guests get to become part of the flight crew of the Millenium Falcon—will feature new levels of interactivity from guests. The current Star Tours attraction on both coasts will be getting a new scene from "The Last Jedi." Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will open in late fall 2019.

A detailed model of the new Star Wars land was unveiled at D23 over on the DisneyParksBlog.com. It was also revealed during D23 that the new land would be called Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

Update: Guests riding Star Tours - The Adventure Continues in November 2017 were the first to visit Batuu - a planet on the edge of the Star Wars Galaxy. Batuu is the site of the new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge land coming to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2019. According to Lucasfilm creative executive Pablo Hidalgo, "This used to be a vibrant trading port back in the old sub-lightspeed days, but now with advent of hyperspace, its prominence has kind of fallen and faded a little bit which has made it a great spot for those who didn't want to be on that kind of mainstream path...The smugglers, the bounty hunters, the rogue adventurers looking to crew up, the people who don't want to be found — basically all the interesting people.”
