IllumiNations finale
IllumiNations finale

IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth FP+ brings every night to a spectacular close. Brilliant fireworks and a rousing, original musical score fill Epcot’s World Showcase Lagoon every evening at park closing, heralding the creation of Earth. A shower of sparkling comets paves the way, a huge globe glides across the lagoon to take center stage, and a pageant of breathtaking scenery, wildlife, and the peoples of the earth plays across a giant video display covering the continents of the globe. Lasers, blazing torches, and more fireworks tumble forth as the music builds to a rousing climax.

Note: After almost 20 years, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth is set to close in 2019. It will be replaced immediately after closure by a new show, though details on the new show have not been announced yet.

Although the show is visible anywhere around the lagoon, there are definitely better viewing sites. You can judge a viewing site well in advance of the show as you stroll around the lagoon, or check our map on page 152. A clear view of the water at the center of the lagoon is critical, as is a clear view of the sky (watch those tree limbs). It also helps if the wind is to your back or side (to avoid fireworks smoke). The bridge between France and the United Kingdom is a prime (and popular) location. Italy and Norway are other good viewing spots. Or try for a 7:30 pm advance reservation at the Rose & Crown. Check in at the podium early and request a patio table. You may get lucky with a great view. If not, enjoy your meal anyway—diners are invited outside to stand and enjoy the show. Another place to stay seated is at La Hacienda de San Angel in Mexico. Arrive at least 90 min. early for a lagoon-side table. We also highly recommend the excellent views from the lagoon-side patios in the United Kingdom and France, if they aren’t already occupied by private parties. If you opt to use your Headliner (Tier 1) FastPass+ for IllumiNations, which is rarely necessary in our opinion, the viewing area for FastPass+ holders is at the intersection of the World Showcase Lagoon and Future World, between the two Tower gift shops.

RE: Photo Slice for Making the Most of IllumiNations

I recently discovered that when staying at an Epcot resort, it makes sense to use an arrival day FP+ for Illuminations.
