FastPass+

Tired of waiting in long lines? Disney’s high-tech FastPass+ ride reservation system reduces the time you spend in line and is free to all park guests! To begin making FastPass+ reservations, first go to the MyDisneyExperience app (online at disneyworld.com or on your smart device) and link your park pass by ID number. Once you have a valid park pass in the system, you can make up to three FastPass+ reservations per day of your visit up to 90 days in advance (Disney Resort Club-level guests who purchase the special pass add-on—see below), 60 days in advance (all other Disney resort guests) or up to 30 days in advance (everyone else). Currently, your three FastPass+ reservation selections must be in the same park, even if you have a park-hopping ticket. Additionally, there is a “tiered” approach to reservations, meaning you can only select one headliner and two minor attractions at Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. After you use all three initial FastPass+ reservations on the day of your visit (or your arrival windows have passed), you can select one more FastPass+ to use that same day at one of the FastPass+ kiosks in the parks (and you can select an attraction in a different park). The extra FastPass+ reservation is a rolling FastPass+ experience—each time you use it, you can select a new one.

So how do you actually use FastPass+? Just swipe your park pass or MagicBand on the Mickey head RFID reader at the entrance to an attraction and, if you’re within your one-hour reservation window, Mickey lights up green and you’re good to go. Too early? You’ll need to wait. Too late? You won’t get in, but you can go online or to a kiosk to make a new FastPass+ reservation. Once you’re in the FastPass+ queue, there’s usually still a short wait, and you’ll experience most or all “pre-show” activities. Most FastPass+ attractions still have a “Standby” line for those without FastPass+, though at press time Disney was experimenting with making some venues FastPass+ only. In January 2018, Disney introduced a pilot program for Disney resort guests staying at the Club (concierge) level and some of the higher DVC villas. This program gives these guests the option to purchase a FastPass+ add-on that gives them three additional FastPass+ per day, plus preferred fireworks and parade viewing, for $50 extra per guest per day. To purchase this option, guests must be staying in a qualifying Club-level room or villa and have a three-day Parkhopper pass or an annual pass.
