Shades of Green ResortShades of Green Resort |
Shades of Green is a U.S. Armed Forces Recreational Center on Walt Disney World property, located near the Magic Kingdom theme park. Formerly The Disney Inn, this self-supporting resort is exclusively for active and retired military personnel in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, as well as those in the Reserves and National Guard. Department of Defense civilians and U.S. Public Health Officers are also eligible. |
ROOMS AT SHADES OF GREEN Nestled in the woods between two golf courses, Shades of Green offers 586 rooms with deluxe accommodations. Guest rooms remain among the largest on property at 450 sq. feet, accommodating up to five guests. Features include two queen-size beds, plus a sitting area with a daybed or sleeper sofa. Rooms have a refrigerator, coffeemaker, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, and an in-room safe. While the rooms are large and very pleasant, with a balcony or patio in every room, some feel the lack of Disney theming is a drawback (and they don’t give MagicBands either). The resort (and all rooms) are smoke-free (smoking may be allowed on the balcony/patio). Eleven 1–3 bedroom suites are available, sleeping 6–8 guests each. |
AMENITIES AT SHADES OF GREEN Dining choices include the Garden Gallery family restaurant, Evergreens sports bar, a specialty Italian restaurant (Mangino’s), the Express Cafe for quick meals, a coffee counter, and room service. There’s also a lounge (Eagles). Resort amenities include two lighted tennis courts, two heated pools, wading pool, playground, exercise room, arcade, and laundry facilities. Military-discount tickets are available for Disney and other area attractions at the hotel’s ticket office. Buses run on regular schedules to Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, the Transportation and Ticket center, and Disney Springs (and the Polynesian Village is a 10-minute walk away). You must show your Shades of Green resort ID or military ID to board their buses. A multi-level parking structure is available ($5/day). |
RATES AT SHADES OF GREEN Rates are based on rank or pay grade and begin at $109 ($119 for pool views). Reserve up 53 weeks in advance (limit three rooms). Tip: Shades of Green is offering discounts on early bookings—visit http://www.militarydisneytips.com for news and announcements. |
