The Wilderness Lodge and Boulder Ridge Villas are nestled in a dense forest of pines on Bay Lake, accessible by waterway from the Magic Kingdom. The Lodge and Villas were inspired by the U.S. National Park lodges built in the 1900s. |
AMBIENCE AT DISNEY'S WILDERNESS LODGE RESORT Ah, wilderness! Rustic log buildings, swaying pines, babbling brooks, and the faintest whiff of wood smoke from the crackling fireplace. The Wilderness Lodge pays homage to the grand log lodges of the Pacific Northwest, with its towering lobby, 55-foot totem poles, and deluxe rooms. The recently-renamed Boulder Ridge Villas at Wilderness Lodge offer Disney’s Deluxe Villa accommodations for Disney Vacation Club members (see page 108) and all other guests. Architecturally, the Villas represent an earlier era than the main Lodge building and draw influences from the lodges created by America’s railroad workers. |
RESORT LAYOUT AT DISNEY'S WILDERNESS LODGE RESORT The Wilderness Lodge and the Villas offer varying accommodations, ranging from 340 to 1,071 sq. feet. The Lodge houses 728 guest rooms and suites, with some encircling the cavernous lobby but most in the two wings. The cozy Lodge rooms are outfitted with new furniture and bed spreads with Hidden Mickeys. Most Lodge rooms have two queen beds, but some offer a bunk bed in place of the second bed. The Boulder Ridge Villas feature 136 studios and one- and two-bedroom suites, each with a kitchenette or full kitchen, DVD player, and washer and dryer. 26 waterside cabins will debut in 2017. All rooms have a balcony or patio, a small table and chairs, TV, double sinks, toiletries, in-room safe, refrigerator, turndown service (on request), newspaper delivery, voice mail, and valet parking. |
DINING AT DISNEY'S WILDERNESS LODGE RESORT As you would expect from a Lodge, the food here is served in hearty, healthy portions. The two table-service restaurants (see page 260) are Artist Point for fine dining in the evening and Whispering Canyon Cafe for a fun, Western-style adventure serving all-you can-eat meals throughout the day. Roaring Fork Snack Shop is a self-service cafe serving breakfast foods, burgers, sandwiches, and snacks—purchase Rapid Fill mugs, at $17.99, include self-serve refills. Typical menu items include breakfast platter ($9.99), roast beef sandwich ($12.29), grilled chicken sandwich ($11.29), and wilderness salad ($10.79). Miss Jenny’s In-Room Dining is available for limited room service at breakfast and dinner. Geyser Point Bar & Grilloffersbreakfast, lunch, and dinner (see page 260). |
