TIPS FOR DISNEY'S FORT WILDERNESS RESORT & CAMPGROUND Electric golf carts are very popular for moving about the resort but are hard to get. To reserve one up to a year in advance, call the Bike Barn at 407-824-2742. Rates are $59+tax per 24-hour period. The Electrical Water Pageant, a light and music barge parade on Bay Lake, can be seen from the beach at around 9:45 pm. Fort Wilderness offers many special features not found at other resorts, including the nightly campfire and movie (see previous page), trail rides, and more. See page 215 for details. Seasonal, weekly, and monthly discounts may exist for campsites. A special "Return to Sleepy Hollow" event is now being offered during the Halloween season! The experience includes watching the 1949 Disney animated classic film "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" inside the historic Tri-Circle-D Ranch stables and an up close and personal encounter with the REAL Headless Horseman! This experience is available September 29-October 2, October 5-9, 12-16, 19-23, and 26-31, at 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. Cost is $22/person, or $38/person for premium seating, which includes a priority photo opportunity with the Headless Horseman and a Halloween treat bag. Guests ages 3 and older in either seating will also receive an exclusive, limited-edition pin (there is no charge for guests ages 2 and younger, but families are asked to keep the child in a parent’s lap). Space is extremely limited—book at WDW-TOUR. |
NOTES FOR DISNEY'S FORT WILDERNESS RESORT & CAMPGROUND A car may come in handy at this resort, and there is 15-minute parking available at the Meadows Trading Post. Disney transportation to and from Fort Wilderness requires a transfer from internal to external transport, making it more time-consuming than most resorts. To reduce transit time, request a site in loops 100–800, as these are within walking distance of Settlement Depot and the marina. Bring your groceries, or buy them at Winn-Dixie about a mile north of Disney Springs. You can pick up some items from the trading posts. Pets are allowed for $5/day in loops 300–900, and 1600–1900 (request at booking). No pets in pop-ups or tents. Dogs may also visit the fenced-in Waggin’ Trails Dog Park near loop 300. Dogs are accepted in the Cabins for $50/night. There is a maximum of two dogs per Cabin. At check-in, guests will receive Pluto’s Welcome Kit including a mat, bowls, a pet ID tag, courtesy plastic disposable bags, puppy pads and dog walking maps. Also included: a Pluto “Do Not Disturb” door hanger indicating to hotel staff that a pet is in the Cabin. Dogs are expected to be well behaved, leashed in public resort areas, and properly vaccinated. This dog-friendly option will be available to Guests with reservations Oct. 15, 2017 through Oct. 15, 2018. Creekside Meadow offers rustic group camping with a Comfort Station, grills, and fire pits. Six-person tents and cots can be rented. Campfires are allowed at individual campsites, but only in fully self-contained firepits with solid metal tops (you must bring your own or rent one from FloridaCamperRental.com). Check-in time is 1:00 pm (campsites) or 3:00 pm (cabins). Checkout time for all is 11:00 am. |
