LOUNGING AT DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE Victoria Falls Lounge serves African-and Indian-inspired appetizers, coffees, wines, and beer. The Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar, inside Jiko, serves great wines from South Africa. A small lounge is also inside Sanaa. Uzima Springs and Maji are poolside bars offering beer and mixed drinks. Snacks, beer, and wine are at the Zawadi Marketplace, The Mara, and Johari Treasures. |
PLAYING AT DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE For Animal Watchers: Bring plenty of film/memory cards for your camera—you may also want a tripod. Binoculars are handy, too. For Athletes: Keep in shape in the Zahanati and Survival of the Fittest Fitness Centers near the pools. Massage treatments are also offered. There is also a jogging path between the buildings. For Children: Simba’s Cubhouse is a supervised club (see page 284). There are also the Hakuna Matata and Uwanja Camp playgrounds, storytelling at the fire pit, and daily activities at Boma and the Jambo House lobby. For Gamers: Pumbaa’s Fun and Games and Safari So Good Arcade. For Shoppers: The festive Zawadi Marketplace and Johari Treasures have sundries, foodstuffs, books, clothing, and African crafts. For Swimmers: Soak in the Uzima and Samawati Springs pools, and enjoy water slides (which close at 10:00 pm), kids’ pools, and four spas (hot tubs). Both pools feature zero-entry sections where you can wade into the water. A pool wheelchair is available. For Adventurers: Inquire in advance about the Wanyama Safari and Dinner ($209, available to all Walt Disney World guests as of January 1, 2017) and Night Safari ($74.17, Animal Kingdom Lodge guests only) which tour the lodge’s savannas. |
GETTING ABOUT DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE Buses to theme parks and Disney Springs (see chart below for in-transit times) are a short walk out front of both buildings (see the map on page 44). Travel to other resorts via Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park (daytime) or Disney Springs (evening). Ample parking is available, as is valet parking ($25/day). This is the only deluxe resort to lack boat or monorail access to a nearby park.
Approximate time you will spend in transit from resort to destination during normal operation. |
