Golf: The area is home to over 90 golf courses. Famed Torrey Pines is just north of San Diego, and a public course to boot! Tee times can be booked 8-90 days in advance at 877-581-7171 or http://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/golf/torreypines.

Whale Watching: Though the Wonder’s May and October visits miss Gray Whale season, Blue Whales can be seen in September on cruises offered by H&M Landing (619-222-1144, https://www.hmlanding.com).

Fishing: Tuna, yellowtail, bonito, and dorado are among the headliners. Party boats and chargers can be had from H&M Landing (above) and Point Loma Sportfishing (619-223-1627, https://www.pointlomasportfishing.com).

LEGOLAND: Outside of Disney itself, LEGOLAND comes closest to embracing Walt Disney’s vision for theme parks. 45 minutes north of town in Carlsbad, LEGOLAND has grown into a resort hosting the theme park, water park, hotel, and SEA LIFE Aquarium. Be sure to check the operating hours schedule before making plans! Visit https://california.legoland.com/california/.

Disneyland Resort: How can we not include Walt Disney’s original park, especially when it’s just two hours to the north via I-5? Though just the tip of the Greater Los Angeles’ possibilities, the Mouse House can be a fabulous start or finish to a Disney cruise, and you know you just have to see Cars Land!
