CABO SAN LUCAS MAP

BEACHES

For swimming and recreation, Playa El Médano is the place, just east of the inner harbor’s entry. You’ll find every sort of water sport rental and beach amenity on this broad beach with modest surf and numerous resort hotels. While it’s just across the bay from the pier, a short cab ride is probably the best way to get there. Previously mentioned, Lover’s Beach is a short boat ride away. It’s reputed to be one of the most picturesque beaches anywhere, but swimming is dangerous. Attractive Solmar Beach is also a short cab ride from the pier and guarded by resort hotels, but it, too, is not suitable for swimming. Most other area beaches are also too dangerous for swimming, although several along the road to San Jose de Cabo attract scuba divers, snorkeling, or surfers (see next page). Of those, Playa Chileno, with its offshore reef, offers the best swimming opportunities. None of the beaches have safety patrols, so you’re on your own. If you want to book your own excursions, consider Cabo San Lucas Tours at http://www.cabosanlucastours.net or 866-348-6286.
