DINING IN PORT CANAVERAL AND COCOA BEACH

Looking for a place to eat? There are plenty of chain restaurants—in Port Canaveral, you’ll find a 24-hour McDonald’s and a Subway, and in Cocoa Beach, there’s a Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Denny’s, International House of Pancakes (IHOP), Blimpie Subs, a Waffle House, and The Omelet Station. Over on Merritt Island, you’ll also find Applebee’s, Chili’s, Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and Hooters. If you’re looking for something nicer and more “local,” here are the restaurants we’ve tried:

Grill’s Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar—A fun spot right on the harbor—the menu is equally fun and the food is great. http://www.visitgrills.com. 505 Glen Cheek Dr., Cape Canaveral • 321-868-2226

Zachary’s—A basic diner, serving satisfying American and Greek food. http://zacharysrestaurant.com. 8799 Astronaut Blvd., Cape Canaveral • 321-784-9007

Rusty’s Seafood & Oyster Bar—Overlooking the port and harbor, this scenic restaurant serves quality seafood. http://www.rustysseafood.com. 628 Glen Cheek Dr., Cape Canaveral • 321-783-2033

Other area restaurants get good buzz, but we can’t vouch for them personally: Fishlips is Rusty’s and Grill’s neighbor in the Cove area at 610 Glen Cheek Dr., Cape Canaveral. Jazzy's Mainely Lobster is a casual, low-priced spot for steamed lobster, lobster rolls, and fried fish, at 210 N. Orlando Ave., Cocoa Beach. Also in Cocoa Beach are Brano’s Italian Grill at 3680 N. Atlantic Ave, and Slow and Low Barbeque at 306 N. Orlando Ave. Simply Delicious Café & Bakery, 125 N. Orlando Avenue, Cocoa Beach is a favorite breakfast stop for many NASA employees.
