Sea Trek Helmet Dive at Coral World   [ST33]

Take a 25-minute, open-air safari bus ride to the Coral World Marine Park for your adventure. You will receive a brief safety orientation and be suited up with special water shoes, gloves, and a Sea Trek helmet that allows you to breathe underwater while keeping your face and hair dry. You’ll then submerge in the water at depths of up to 20 feet as you hold a handrail, follow your tour guide, and marvel at the marine life. After 30 minutes, you’ll dry off and get 90 minutes of free time to explore the park. A complimentary locker is provided; food and beverages are extra. Guests must be at least 80 lbs. to participate, but do not need to have diving or snorkeling experience. Typical meeting time is 7:15 am.

Legendary Kon Tiki Sightseeing and Beach Cruise   [ST45]

Tour St. Thomas Harbor on a “legendary” party barge, with a live Calypso band providing a soundtrack for the ride. View the harbor, cruise the waters around nearby Hassel and Water Islands, view coral and sea life from glass-bottomed viewers, and stop for a one-hour beach break (probably Honeymoon Beach on Water Island). There’s sun on the upper deck and shade below, dancing, games, and a limbo contest, too. Water and fruit punch provided, bring cash for the snack bar. Wheelchairs OK, no ECVs, and must be able to climb 2 steps.

St. John Champagne Sail & Snorkel   [ST21]

After a 20-minute scenic drive in an open-air taxi, you’ll board a boat and sail to St. John, where you’ll swim, snorkel, and sunbathe. Fruit and cheese, snorkel gear, champagne and open bar included. Typical meeting time is 7:45 am. Cruiser reviews are mostly positive: This “great sailing trip” “over and back to St. John” is “excellent.” The crew is “terrific” and served “drinks and snacks” both coming and going. Snorkeling at Honeymoon Bay is “very good” with “clear water, lots of fish, and even stingrays,” but be aware that if you just want to lounge on the beach you’ll need to “swim a short way from the catamaran to the beach.” Overall, this excursion is “highly recommended” but a few would “do something else next time.”

 Secret Sands Beach Getaway   [ST57]

Secret Sands at Smith Bay Beach Park and Eco Reserve (the former Lindquist Beach) claims to be one of St. Thomas' last natural beaches. After a 25-minute ride by safari bus you'll then have 2 hours and 15 minutes to enjoy the beach and shaded picnic tables. A reserved beach chair, bottled water, and a light snack are included. Then on the way back, you'll have a few minutes to enjoy the views from Skyline, and maybe the option to be dropped off in town for some shopping.

Just like the 4-hour car hire (ST52 see page 293), up to 7 guests can share the services of an SUV and driver. Unlike the shorter excursion, it may just be possible to take a jaunt over to St. John. If that's your hope, be sure to touch base with the cruise line well in advance (you'll receive a letter requesting your plans at the start of your cruise)! All tolls, fares, admission, and food are extra.
