San Diego is well worth a pre-/post-cruise stay, and if you go that route, you may prefer locations away from the cruise pier area, near attractions like Sea World, San Diego Zoo, La Jolla/Torrey Pines, and the downtown Gaslight District. For value, check the Mission Valley/I-8 corridor. And then there's the famed Hotel del Coronado, inspiration for Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. Here, however, we'll concentrate on the area nearest the cruise terminal.
