The Greater Miami area boasts more than 400 hotels within 25 miles of the port, and for a resort area encompassing over 70 miles of beachfront, that 25 miles barely gets us to Fort Lauderdale. Palm Beach is 65 miles away. If you're driving and just need a place to rest your head, bargains are easy to come by near highway exits north of the city. Flying in the day before your cruise? Downtown Miami is your best bet, with most hotels just a couple of miles from the cruise terminal, though better overnight deals are had at the airport-area hotels. For a longer visit, Miami Beach and points north add the beachfront that Downtown lacks. In any case, if you're cruising January-April, be prepared for peak season rates.
