You may want to take advantage of the visit to the “Space Coast” to squeeze in a trip to Kennedy Space Center or a day at the beach. Or perhaps you want to arrive in advance to avoid stress on the morning of your cruise. While there are many motels and hotels in the area, we’ve stayed at five (Radisson, Quality Suites, the former Ron Jon, Motel 6, and Residence Inn), all of which we recommend. We also detail two other hotels. To see the location of each, check the map on page 235.

Typical floor plan

This 284-room luxury resort is one of the closest lodgings to the Disney Cruise Line terminal and is quite popular with cruisers. While it is not an oceanfront hotel, it does feature a themed pool (see photo below), wading pool, hot tub, tennis court, fitness center, room service, and 1- and 2-bedroom suites in addition to its standard, Caribbean-themed rooms. All rooms have ceiling fans, TVs, coffeemakers, hair dryers, voice mail, and free wireless Internet access. Suites add another TV and phone line, whirlpool tub, microwave, refrigerator, and walk-in showers. An on-site restaurant, Flamingos, is open from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm daily and serves American food, with a seafood buffet on Saturday nights and a champagne brunch on Sundays. Check-in time: 3:00 pm; check-out time: 12:00 pm. Shuttle service to the cruise terminal is now $6/person, one way. A special cruise package includes parking while you cruise. (Cruise-day shuttle reservations are only accepted at check-in, unless you are on a Park and Cruise package.) Airport shuttle service is now available for a fee. Promotional rates are often available on the Internet for less than $100, but pay attention to the cancelation details, as you may have to forfeit the full purchase price to cancel.
