PassPorter's Ratings for La Hacienda de San Angel
Author Jennifer Marx's Rating:
We ate here for the first time last year and can't wait to go back this year. For three of us, we each had an appetizer and then shared the mixed grill platter. Everything was delicious and it was more than enough for the three of us. Timed it so we were watching illuminations just as we were finishing our meal.

Not only did I eat here on all of my visits, but I ate here multiple times each visit! I am a Mexican Food Junkie, and this fits the bill! I would highly recommend sharing (as a couple) the La Hacienda or the Del Mar platters. Great variety and very good quality! The first time I went, the offered Popcorn Ice Cream as a dessert (we were on the dining plan) and although it sounds terrible, it was delicious! I was sad that it was no longer on the menu on our last trip, but I hope it returns. I still crave it!

The food here is awful. I don't know if I could stomach it again. However, the view of illuminations is amazing.

Not as many selections as I thought there should be.

Good food with beautiful decor and great view of Illuminations if timed right. Note for young picky eaters: years ago when they first opened and my 10 yo was not interested in anything on the adult menu, the server and mgr would not allow her to order a kids meal even at adult price so they gave her what was basically a bowl of melted cheese to eat with some tortillas. Thankfully she eats more now and hopefully they are more accommodating - I know it is not a Disney-run restaurant but it was very un- Disneylike.

Nice view for Illuminations, but if you're used to authentic Mexican food you may be disappointed.

Just ok. Great atmosphere but balanced out with slow service and average food. Go to the San Angel Inn instead

I would eat here to have a great air conditioned seat for the fireworks.

Good place to watch Illuminations, but check in early and ask for a window table. Food is good, not just typical Mexican dishes.

Make a reservation for between 7:45 and 8:00 and try to request a table by the windows upon check in. The view for Illuminations is amazing! The platters for two are wonderful and more than enough for two people. The service though has always been a bit lacking each if the three times we have dined there.
