'50s Prime Time Cafe |
Clean your plate in an old kitchenette, while “Mom” serves gussied-up versions of home-cooked meals like meatloaf, pot roast, fried chicken, salmon, grilled pork tenderloin, chicken pot pie, sandwiches, and salads ($15–$23), plus scrumptious malts, milkshakes, and sundaes ($6–$7). Vintage TV clips of “I Love Lucy” and “The Honeymooners” play while you eat, and your “brother” and “sister” (your servers) boss you around when your “Mom” isn’t watching. This is a unique dining experience if you’re willing to play along—not recommended for the overly shy. Veggie burgers on request. The dining areas and adjoining bar/waiting area are a wonderland of ‘50s-vintage Formica, television sets, and knickknacks. Table and booth seating.

Author Jennifer Marx's Rating:
Our server was friendly, but didn't really play into the "act", so a little disappointed, since that was what we were expecting. The food was just OK, although the fried chicken was good! It's a "been there, done that" for us, so probably won't go back again.

Our particular server wasn't great, but we saw plenty of other servers having fun and that helped. The fried chicken and the pot pie were both really good. Desserts were really good as well.

Food is okay - used to be more magical however demand has squashed that. Not as much character as the time we went before (even though we requested someone who would cut up with us).

Such a fun place to eat with great down home cooking.

This is my favorite place to eat at DHS. It is so much fun, and I love the menu. My husband and I first ate here on our honeymoon. We loved all the antics of the Cast Members. I love the clips on the TV's, and decorations. The food is yummy. I love the meat loaf and pot roast. The sundaes are amazing.

Food is average, but atmosphere is fun!

We really enjoy themed restaurants and this is one of the best! We liked the fried chicken and the milkshakes! The only complaint was that our server didn't really ham it up. It might have been because our kids were too young but we are looking forward to trying this on our next trip and seeing if we can really get someone to play along with us!

Fun and the food has been consistently good. We've never had an "over the top" waiter/waitress that I've heard about.

Fun place to eat and the milkshakes are amazing.

It all depends on your waiter. Ours was awful. Couldn't get into character at all.

A must do for us. The amount of fun you have depends greatly on your server. We have a lot of great memories of fun times at the 50's Prine Time Cafe. The PB & J milkshake is amazing !

Best restaurant in Hollywood--keep your elbows off the table

Fun place to recall the 50s.

I think the food was very good and if you can handle the wait staff and have a good sense of humor, it can be a fun experience. But I can also see people being very turned off by the gruff manner (which is on purpose) of some of the staff. I think it's a good sit down option for Hollywood Studios but I don't need to rush back there.

Imagine having dinner in a 50's kitchen while your Mom or Sister serves dinner. No elbows on the table - eat your dinner or no dessert are common phrases you get here. Play along - it makes the whole experience! Ask for the dessert menu! It comes in very unique packaging.

We had a delicious lunch here. I cleaned my plate! The fried chicken and pot roast were both so yummy! Our waitress wasn't totally into her character, but I still recommend it.

Great food and great service especially if you play along with the servers.

One of my favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World. The experience is much better if you become part of the show and banter with the servers.

the dining experience is great when you get a server that really plays the part. Been lucky to always get one.

Your dining experience does vary depending on your server. Some get into the part more than others. Atmosphere/theming is fantastic though.

Interaction with server was minimal. Expected the server to have fun with the kids making wise cracks. Server made one or two one liners and moved on to the next table. Overheard server make the same stale joke at the table next to us.

This was fun with younger kids. Wait staff has fun with them. The food was good. Something very different

Not what I was expecting. Food was so-so. Didn't get any interaction from the server.

We always enjoy eating here with "our cousins." Food is always awesome and very reasonable for a theme park restaurant. Love the theming!

My favorite eating location in the Hollywood Studios! It has great a great throwback atmosphere, awesome servers, and the food is perfect comfort food. Be ready for laughs and some good old S'mores for dessert!

We love the ambience and the playful interaction with the servers. Awesome food is a nice plus. But this place is more about the show. And it's great fun. Highly recommended for families.
