Travel Guide Updates for PassPorter's Walt Disney World 2008

(tenth edition, released November 15, 2007 - More Book Information)

Reminder: These updates do not include every new thing at Walt Disney World as that would require an entirely new book to explain (and, yes, we will have a 2009 edition released in November 2008)! Instead, this chart only lists the pages in PassPorter's Walt Disney World 2008 that would be out-of-date or incorrect without this information.

Note: While this list may be long, it isn't an indicator of how much of the guidebook is out-of-date. We were actually quite fortunate to have been able to print our guidebook AFTER most of the major updates were announced. This list includes lots of extra details that wouldn't necessarily appear in the printed guidebook, for your convenience. Even with all the extra information, this list comes in at less than one-half of one percent of the word count of the actual guidebook.

Tip: Do you have some news or an update that is not in this list? Let us know! If we use and publish it, we will send you a free thank-you gift! Become a PassPorter Reporter at http://www.passporter.com/report.asp

RSS: These updates are available in a RSS Feed, which displays the updates in reverse chronological order based on the date posted.

51[Reader Report] The Contemporary Resort is looking GREAT! The whole place has fresh paint and carpet. According to cast members at the Contemporary, Chef Mickey's will expand to the side and the existing lounge and Concourse Steakhouse will move to the basement. The "grab and go" food area will occupy the space currently used by Concourse Steakhouse. It is funny that the concourse area currently smells like burning pizza, due to the temprorary grab & go which is out in the open! Probably the most exciting thing is the HUGE building that is "not yet DVC." While of course the DVC rep is forbidden to acknowledge WHAT that building is, it clearly is a crescent-shaped building facing the lake and the pylons for the walkway into the concourse of the main building are CLEARLY visible. Seeing this building grow ever taller is quite thrilling, in spite of the fact that Disney refuses to tell onlookers what the building IS. But in general, the whole area is teeming with activity and looking so good after the start of much-needed TLC.

61[Reader Report] The petting zoo is no longer located at Fort Wilderness Resort. When I visited in December 2007, a cast member at the stables told me that the petting zoo animals have all been permanently moved to Disney's Animal Kingdom's Affection Section in Rafiki's Planet Watch.

85The Treehouses are back! The Treehouse Villas near Downtown Disney are going to become part of Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort according to MousePlanet.com. 151Plans to open a new attraction based on the ultra-popular TV show American Idol by "late 2008" were revealed on February 7, 2008. The winners of each day's shows will compete at the end of the day for a "guaranteed reservation" for a spot in the regional stadium auditions for the real TV show. While the press release was silent on the location of the show, illustrations reveal it'll be in the ABC Theatre, the long-unused space next to the park's hub, formerly home to Doug Live.
