Details On This Episode: Solo and So-Loving It! (Episode #3 - 02/09/2010)
Description: Join us as we chat with our guest Don Willis about solo travel to Disney and other locales, discuss news and updates, and answer questions from our listeners! Captain Jack Skatt makes an appearance with a tip for this week's treasure hunt, and there is a new discount code at the very end of the podcast!
Special Guest(s): Don Willis (duck addict) - Don is a PassPorter Message Board Guide and frequent solo traveler to Walt Disney World as well as the Disney Cruise Line. Don enjoys meeting fellow PassPorters while traveling and is a veteran of the December PassPorter Gatherings.
Questions/topics we discuss in this podcast: What should we know about sharing suitcases? Can we do Rider Swap on ALL rides? What do you think of Food Quality on the Disney Cruise Line? Can we do two parks in one day at Disneyland Resort?
BJ Wanlund asks:
Before I ask this question, I gotta say I love this podcast and I now have another Disney podcast to look forward to every week! Keep it up!
My mom and I have had some pretty bad luck with hotels in the past (including one off-site Disney hotel that was the pits... literally), but about a year ago now, my mom and I started using hotels.com to book all our hotels going forward, and I don't think either of us are going back!
You pay for the hotel room in advance (snagging some great deals in the process), and we no longer worry about paying for the hotel along with all the other things my mom and I like to do (Mom's my favorite traveling partner when I don't go it alone).
So, do you guys use this, or would you plan on trying this on a future trip to the Mouse?
BJ Wanlund from North Carolina
Nadia asks:
Hi Jennifer and Sara! My husband and I are taking our 3 and 5 year old boys to Disney World next month for the first time. We live in Ottawa, Canada and are really looking forward to some sunshine and fun in the Disney parks. I've been doing a lot of research and I think I have a pretty good idea of which attractions we'll visit, on what days, and even in what order (so as not to have to wait in lines too long). I have questions about 2 attractions and their suitabillity for our boys.
1. The Haunted Mansion - should we skip it this year and perhaps wait until they're a little older? My younger son is a bit of a scaredy pants. He's afraid of lawn mowers and vacuum cleaners!
2. Is a 5 year old two old for Playhouse Disney Live? Do your 5 year old boys like it? We're skipping Epcot altogether this trip as we're only in Orlando for 4 days and we really want to do Magic Kingdom on two of those days.
Thanks so much. Loved the first two podcasts.

Listener Feedback:
Another great episode! :toast: Colexis Mom on February 10, 2010 @ 8:39 am Many thanks to Don Willis (duck addict) for being our guest this week. And my apologies for mispronouncing your last name, Don -- I know it's Willis, not Wills, but it just came out wrong.
Also, a couple of things you may want to listen for -- Captain Jack Skatt makes an appearance with a tip for this week's treasure hunt (appearing in tomorrow's newsletter), and there is a new discount code at the very end of the podcast! 1. Thanks for the opportunity to join you.
2. No problem with the pronunciation (you probably were thinking of Deb Wills when you did it :rofl2: -- and that would be a compliment ) duck addict on February 10, 2010 @ 2:13 pm Great job! lazanya on February 12, 2010 @ 4:37 pm Thanks for yet another Great Episode! ChipNDale on February 12, 2010 @ 6:04 pm Another great episode Ladies! Thanks for sharing your thoughts Don! I'm really enjoying these podcasts, can't wait for the next one!! Kenny on February 13, 2010 @ 12:34 am You've hit a home run for the third week in a row! Don did an excellent job providing strategies for Disney solo travel. I would recommend one additional tip. I always enjoy offering to take pictures for other people and families as I wander the parks. It's a great way to make connections with others and they usually reciprocate so I have pictures of myself on a solo trip. DouglasE on February 13, 2010 @ 8:36 am Just had a listen and really enjoyed it. chezp on February 13, 2010 @ 11:19 am DouglasE;3144883 >You've hit a home run for the third week in a row! That's a great tip Douglas! I always offer to take photos for people, even when I'm traveling with my family. It makes me sad when people are so surprised I'd offer! Belle* on February 13, 2010 @ 2:00 pm View all 9 comments about this podcast
