We’ve heard reports that the guest rooms are not well cleaned and the decor is out of date—be sure to check reviews before booking. The largest of the budget hotels, Super 8 offers 173 rooms and a cheery, Disney-themed breakfast area serving a free continental breakfast featuring cinnamon rolls, waffles, coffee, juice, and cold items. The rooms—with one king, two queens, or one queen bed—are all non-smoking. Each room has a coffee maker, mini fridge, hair dryer, iron/ironing board, free wi-fi, and flat-screen TV. Amenities include a heated pool, whirlpool spa, and guest laundry. Visit the second-floor terrace to watch fireworks!

While this isn’t a hotel, it is a 150-site RV park with good rates and in close proximity to Disneyland. All sites have full hookups and include cable TV and free wi-fi. The park also has showers, heated pool, whirlpool, guest laundry, and a clubhouse with a 60" TV with premium satellite channels, reading area, and computer room. The park provides free coffee and muffins in the morning. Dogs allowed—additional charge for more than two pets. Discounts are available for military, AAA, Good Sam Club, and FMCA. Weekend rates are higher, as are peak season rates—generally, the week surrounding major holidays. Kids stay free, but rates include only two adults; additional adults are $3/day. Accommodations range from tent sites to pull-throughs that can accommodate 65' rigs.

If you're looking to try something different, or have quite a large party, you might want to consider booking a Vacation Rental By Owner, or VRBO. These are private residences (occasionally rooms in someone's home) that the owner has listed on the VRBO site. Just visit the site, set some parameters, such as rates, number of bedrooms, most popular, etc., then view photos of your top choices, check the reviews and distance to parks, and book directly on line. The site also has an option to purchase travel insurance—not a bad idea! Friends who have booked VRBOs have given us rave reviews, so you might give this a try. A quick search through Anaheim listings found an enormous range of options, from a tiny bungalow for two at $55/night to magnificent houses at $600-$800/night that sleep 20. Whatever your needs, you should be able to find something here to fit them. Adventurous types might also try airbnb, at https://www.airbnb.com. Accommodations on that site range from shared rooms to full homes or apartments.
