When Disney claims you can “stay in the middle of the magic,” they’re not kidding around. The three official Disney resort hotels are smack dab inside the Disneyland Resort—one even has direct entry to a park! You can’t sleep this close to the parks at even the more expansive Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. We’ve stayed at each of the three Disney resort hotels, and we love each one for its own unique qualities.

All three Disney hotels—the original Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, and the newest, Disney’s Grand Californian—are within easy walking distance of the Disneyland Resort theme parks, with the Grand Californian being the closest. Each hotel offers deluxe accommodations equivalent to a 3- or 4-star hotel. You can expect a basic level of service regardless of which one you choose—these amenities and features are described on the next three pages. Better yet, guests of any of the three Disney resort hotels are entitled to exclusive benefits, described below. For information on how to reserve a room, see page 38.

Opening in 2021, a new four-star hotel will be located in the west end of Disneyland's Downtown Disney District. The hotel will include a monorail station with direct monorail access to inside the Disneyland park. An upper level restaurant and lounge will provide views of the fireworks. 700 guest rooms plus extensive landscaping and water features, plus shopping and dining venues will offer guests a respite from the parks. Construction is set to begin in 2018 and finish in 2019.

Room Charging Privileges—If you put down a credit card at check-in, you can charge almost any expense at many locations in the Disney theme parks, hotels, and Downtown Disney District. Present your Key to the Magic (room key card) and valid photo identification. Your room account is valid for charging up to 11:00 am on departure day.
✔

Package Express Delivery—Bought something in the parks but don’t want to lug it back to your room? No problem! Inquire about package delivery to your hotel’s bell desk at the time of purchase. Packages can be picked up after 7 am the next day.

Early Entry—Hotel guests can enter Disneyland on select days one hour before the park opens to the public (this is known as Extra Magic Hour). This perk isn’t available every day, but a hotel guest can get early entry each time it occurs during their stay.

Guaranteed Admission—Disney hotel guests with a valid park pass are guaranteed admission into the parks even if the parks reach capacity.

Wake-Up Calls From Mickey or his friends—When you set a wake-up call at your Disney hotel, one of your Disney pals greets you with a cheerful hello! Tip: If your phone has a speakerphone, use it for your wake-up call so everyone can hear.

Packages—The Walt Disney Travel Company and AAA offer several packages that include a Disney hotel stay, plus special perks. See Choosing a Disney Hotel Package, page 37.

Proximity—Walk less, play more when you stay at a Disney hotel. Disney’s hotels are closer to the theme parks than most, and the monorail is an added bonus. And if you stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, you get a special entrance into Disney California Adventure, too!

Service—Disney is famous for its service. Cast Members are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. If you ever have a question, touch Guest Services on your in-room phone or visit the Guest Services desk in the lobby.

Rumor Alert: Disney officials submitted plans in June 2016 to add a fourth Disney-themed hotel on property! According to the documents, this construction would be 700-room, four-diamond hotel at the north end of the Downtown Disney parking lot. Construction could start in 2018, and the hotel itself could open in 2021. If we hear more, we'll update this page!
