Villas

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel opened 50 “villas” for the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) in 2009. These villas occupy part of a newer wing on a 2 1/2-acre site south of the hotel’s original buildings. This wing is reminiscent of Paradise Pier with smaller New England-style blocks, allowing it to blend in perfectly behind Disney California Adventure park, which it overlooks. The villas, which are available both by using DVC points and by booking by non-DVC members, come in studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom configurations. Studios sleep up to four guests, while one-bedroom villas sleep up to five guests, thanks to the addition of a twin-size Murphy bed in the living room (the bed is cleverly hidden under the TV cabinet to maximize the space!). The two-bedroom villas sleep up to nine guests, and the three-bedroom Grand Villas (of which there are only two!) sleep up to 12. All villas have kitchen facilities, with a sink, refrigerator, and microwave—one-bedroom and larger villas also have a dishwasher and stove. All but the studios come with washers and dryers. The decor of the villas mirrors the delightful Arts and Crafts style seen in the rest of the hotel, with deep wood tones, granite counters, and woven fabrics. A nifty slide-out pantry is built into the wall beside the dining room table in the one-bedroom and larger villas. All villas have balconies, which overlook either Disney California Adventure park or the new pool built for this wing.

What is the Disney Vacation Club?
The Disney Vacation Club, or DVC as it is more commonly known, is Disney’s very popular rendition of a timeshare ownership program. Unlike traditional timeshares, DVC uses a flexible point system and a no-pressure sales method, setting it far above other programs. The much-anticipated Villas at the Grand Californian are the first foray into DVC villas for Disneyland. To learn more about the Disney Vacation Club, see details on page 53.
