Sleeping Beauty Castle |
While it may not be listed on your guidemap as an attraction, we think it qualifies. Sleeping Beauty Castle serves as the focal point of the park and offers the perfect entry point to Fantasyland beyond. The 77 ft. tall castle bears an uncanny resemblance to the Bavarian castle “Neuschwanstein,” though Disney’s is made of wood and concrete with 22-karat gold leaf. Don't miss the lovely (but somewhat dark) walk-through diorama of the Sleeping Beauty story. A video version is available on the ground floor if you want to skip the stairs—you can also see some lovely "royal" mementos in a display case and rest on a quiet bench here. Spend some time in the romantic garden on the east end of the castle—this delightful little area is Snow White Grotto, complete with a melodic wishing well and a waterfall fountain. In the evenings, lighting effects appear on the castle. Note that there is no restaurant in this castle.

The walk through part of the castle is like a little hidden gem. It's right there yet people walk right by it.
