Changes/Updates PassPorter's Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line

(fifth edition, released January 2007)

These updates were current as of 2/20/2007.

Visit: again for the most recent list of book updates.

Reminder: These updates do not include every new thing aboard the Disney Cruise Line as that would require an entirely new book to explain (and, yes, we will have a sixth edition in January 2008)! Instead, this chart only lists the pages in PassPorter's Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line that would be out-of-date or incorrect without this information.

Update Description

Disney Cruise Line announced the special summer itineraries for 2008 and it's back to California for the Disney Magic! There will be a 15-night Panama Canal repositioning cruise followed by 12 seven-night Mexican Riviera itineraries and a 15-night Panama Canal repositioning cruise for the return to Port Canaveral, Florida. The itineraries are very similar to the 2005 West Coast cruises.

New Disney cruise ships coming in 2011 and 2012. In a press release, company President and CEO Bob Iger announced that the company has signed a letter of intent with Meyer Werft Shipyards of Germany to build two, 122,000-ton ships, each with room for 4,000 guests (Disney’s current ships are each 83,000-ton/2,400 guests). The first of the two, as yet unnamed ships will be delivered in 2011, and the second will arrive in 2012.

Disney Cruise Line has a new line of buses for guests that require transfer from the resort to the port (and vice versa). The new buses resemble the ship with the same paint scheme and porthole windows on each side.

The Cove Cafe no longer has computer terminals. In place, they offer four loaner laptops to use while in the cafe. Standard internet rates apply and there is no additional charge to use the laptops.

Guests that book staterooms in categories 1-3 now have robes provided for their children ages 4-8. Girls will receive pink robes and boys will have aqua. For the older kids, an adult robe will be provided.

Ground transfers from the resort to Port Canaveral have increased from $59 per person to $69 per person

While the The Disney Magic is on the west coast, the Disney Wonder will be stopping at Castaway Cay twice on its four-night sailings from 5/11/2008 - 8/24/2008. The new itinerary is Port Canaveral, Castaway Cay, Nassau, Castaway Cay, then back to Port Canaveral.
